Colonel Stephen D. Petters is the commander of the 2nd Maintenance Group, Barksdale Air Force Base, La. As commander, Colonel Petters oversees maintenance and munitions operations of the Air Force's largest and most diverse bomb wing. He leads more than 1,850 Airmen in four squadrons with 27 assigned B-52H aircraft to ensure devastating global strike capability.
Colonel Petters graduated from Brigham Young University and was commissioned through Officer Training School in 1989. He has held a variety of aircraft and munitions maintenance assignments while assigned to wings, Air Logistics Center, Air Staff, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He has also commanded two maintenance squadrons. Colonel Petters is Level II certified in life cycle logistics and is a designated Joint Qualified Officer.
