Library > Barksdale Mass Notification System

Purpose
The Barksdale AFB Emergency Mass Notification System (EMNS) is designed to rapidly disseminate important base emergency information to base personnel and the affected neighboring population. This system is targeted at loss of life situations such as active shooter or tornado on Barksdale AFB. The Barksdale AFB EMNS is a subscription-based service - each person who wishes to receive notices must individually register their contact information. Base military and civilian personnel, family members, volunteers and any other individual potentially impacted by Base events and actions are encouraged to register with the Barksdale AFB EMNS. All information disseminated via the Barksdale AFB is unclassified and authorized for release to the public. The Barksdale AFB EMNS is designed to supplement, not replace, existing methods for disseminating information. Any guidance provided via the EMNS is strictly advisory and does not supersede guidance provided by an individual's supervisory chain.

How to Register
Please click the Instructions button below to start adding your contact information. You may wish to print the instruction page to have in hand while adding your phone numbers. Please note: By continuing to the instruction page, you are acknowledging that you have read and accept the Privacy Act statement.

Personal Data
The only personal data needed are phone numbers. These are the phones you would want notification of a life threatening situation such as a tornado or act of violence on the base. Follow-on messages would update the location to avoid and finally the termination of dangerous activity.

Contact Information
The Barksdale AFB EMNS is capable of disseminating messages via e-mail and phone. Barksdale Command Post uses email to disseminate weather and heat advisories and will only use the phone numbers for loss of life situations.

Your complete military e-mail address will be automatically loaded into the system when you in-processed to Barksdale AFB.

You may enter a work, home, or cell phone number. Consider that you may receive a phone notification at any time of day, not just during working hours so select your preferred phone number appropriately. If the system does not reach you it will attempt to leave a message on your answering machine or voice mail.

Note: You may be charged by your service provider for receiving notifications from the Barksdale MNS based upon your service plan. By registering with the Barksdale MNS, you are accepting responsibility for any and all charges that may accrue as a result of subscribing to the system.

Privacy Act Notification
In accordance with the Privacy Act of 1974 (Public Law 93-579), this notice informs you of the purpose for collection of personal information when registering for the Barksdale AFB Emergency Mass Notification System. Please read this notice before completing the registration form.

Principal Purpose: Information collected on the Barksdale AFB Emergency Mass Notification System registration page will be used to enable the system to disseminate weather and hostile action notifications to all registrants.

Disclosure: Personal information provided will not be disclosed to any other organization except as required by law. Providing information is strictly voluntary but if information is not provided, notification cannot be made.
