Defenders of Liberty

Welcome to the 2014 Defenders of Liberty Open House and Air Show! The Airmen of Team Barksdale are extremely proud to be a part of such a supportive community. We owe our roots to the citizens of the ArkLaTex and have enjoyed a local presence since our dedication ceremony in February of 1933. Approximately 60,000 attendees entered the base for the air show that day, and those numbers have increased at every show since. At this year's air show, you will have the opportunity to see the most sophisticated aircraft our country has to offer. From top-tier civilian acts, to airborne and static displays of modern Air Power, you will not be disappointed!

Headlining our show this year is the Air Force's premier aerial demonstration team, the Thunderbirds. During this demonstration, the team will fly F-16 Fighting Falcons to their limits in order to represent the pride, precision and professionalism of nearly 700,000 Total Force Airmen. Airmen are doing amazing things around the world, away from their families, friends and comforts of home. Their story deserves to be told, and Americans deserve to hear it; the Thunderbirds are proud to tell it.

Also on hand will be the most technologically advanced military aircraft in the world. The B-52H Stratofortress, the F-22 Raptor, the B-2 Spirit and the KC-10 Extender are just a few of the airframes which will span the flightline. Also joining us will be several civilian acts such as Jeremy Holt, Mike Goulian, Kevin Coleman, Dave Leedom and many more.

Barksdale has a unique mission in that it is home to Air Force Global Strike Command, 8th Air Force, the 2nd Bomb Wing and the 307th Bomb Wing. Members of Barksdale are at the tip of the spear in providing the nuclear and conventional capability of the B-52 and the world-wide deployment capability needed to perform our deterrence mission and support combatant commanders around the globe.

So help us celebrate our history and prepare for tomorrow's fight with this year's Defenders of Liberty Airshow. We are extremely happy to open our gates, provide family friendly entertainment, and say thank you for making Team Barksdale a part of the community. We sincerely hope you enjoy this year's show. Airpower!
