Dental Squadron cuts ribbon on renovated facility

Col. Ty Newman, left, 2 Bomb Wing Commander, joined the 2nd Dental Squadron staff and community partners for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., March 3,2017. The building is a one story modern facility constructed in 1976. It consists of 40 treatment rooms equipped with modern dental units and a Central Instrument Sterilization Processing Center. The renovation took two years and 28 days., included a 1,763 square-foot addition, a gain of three treatment rooms, including new dental chairs and cabinetry, and a new lobby.The Dental Squadron has four flights with 65 authorized military and civilian personnel. It provides dental care to over 5, 300 active duty Airmen. Barksdale's 2nd DS clinic is named after Major General George R. Kennebeck, the first Assistant Surgeon General for Dental Services.
