Aug. 30, 2006 PRINT | E-MAIL
The Family Services Program offers assistance and support to Barksdale families through the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers. Funding is provided through the Combined Federal Campaign and private contributions. Services such as the Airmen's Attic, Loan Locker, and Welcome Basket program are the primary focus. Family Services is co-located with the Airman and Family Readiness Center in building 4713 near the BX. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Loan Locker

The process of relocating can sometimes result in your household goods arriving later than you expected or you may decide to move into your new home before your belongings are delivered. Be sure to check with our Loan Locker during this transition time before you make any purchases. We have futons, cooking utensils, dishes, toasters, coffeemakers, irons and ironing boards, folding tables and chairs and more. Items are available free of charge for up to 30 days.

Airmen's Attic

The Airmen's Attic is available to all military, E-4 and below, and their family members with a current military or dependent ID card. Located in the Airman and Family Readiness Center the Attic is open Monday - Friday, 7:30a.m. - 4:30p.m. Available items include:

Clothing (children and adults)
Kitchen items (dishes, cookware, silverware)
Small appliances
Small electronics
Baby and Toddler items
Uniforms
Decorative items

Donations of clean serviceable items are accepted during regular business hours. Donations of furniture should be made through your first sergeant.

Welcome Basket Program

Civilian spouses attending the Right Start Newcomer's Orientation are provided a beautiful Welcome Basket prepared by our Family Services volunteers. Inside is a "taste of Louisiana" with a variety of gifts and information to provide a "flavor" for their new home.

Airmen's Attic Shopping Days

Each year in December, the Airmen's Attic becomes a special place for FREE holiday shopping. New or almost new items are available and for three days active duty members, their spouses and their children enjoy shopping for each other. If you are E-4 or below, please be sure to join us for this exciting event.

Family Services is always in need of volunteers and free child care is available. Contact the Airman and Family Readiness Center for more information.
